MET 420- Machine Design

Course description

Design of moving machinery in complex electro-mechanical systems. Several projects will be completed that include mechanical design and control design to obtain the desired specifications.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate safety while working around machinery (1.1, 3.1; a, i, j).
  2. Demonstrate the ability to perform risk assessment of machinery (1.1, 2.1, 3.1; a, b, c, f, g, i, j).
  3. Successfully design and build the mechanical elements of packaging machinery (1.1, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.4; a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, k).
  4. Successfully specify, install, program, and troubleshoot electrical controls of packaging machinery (1.1, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.4; a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, k).
