Counseling Center Mission

The Counseling Center is a service established to serve the Purdue University Calumet campus community. The Counseling Center’s mission is to encourage, support, and assist students in their educational pursuit by providing psychological counseling and educational services to deal with personal, interpersonal, vocational, and academic issues. Counseling services are provided by licensed mental health professionals and are confidential, as protected by law.

Other services that the Counseling Center provides include workshops and consultations to the campus community. We may refer to outside agencies and providers based upon the mental health needs of the student.  In addition, the Center conducts program evaluations to help assess the student’s changing needs in an effort to provide useful services.

The Counseling Center also offers clinical internship training for new mental health professionals.

Finally, the Counseling Center is committed to creating a campus environment that supports and values the unique contribution of all individuals. The programs and individual services are developed and delivered with recognition to the value of diversity of a student’s background, characteristics, beliefs, and individual abilities.

Confidentiality

Professional standards of confidentiality, as protected by law, are strictly adhered to by the staff of the Counseling Center. This typically includes maintaining confidentiality about whether or not a student is being seen at the Counseling Center.

All services are available to currently enrolled students at no additional fee.
