Grad student Taifur Rahman honored in Academic Excellence by Purdue Calumet
September 13, 2012Md. Taifur Rahman, a native of Dhaka, Bangladesh, took home first place honors last spring from the AISTech 2012 – Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST) Conference in Atlanta, Ga. The Purdue Calumet graduate student placed highest in the Graduate Student Poster Contest for his research project titled, “Development and Application for Burden Distribution Model and Shaft Simulation.”

May 14, 2012Aleksandr Shmagranoff, Munster — It is unlikely there are many, if any, other mechanical engineering majors who can claim victory in PUC’s annual Intramural Fishing Contest (21-inch walleye in 2009), but his PUC experiences have been varied. He is an ArcelorMittal Scholarship recipient and an Association for Iron and Steel Technology presenter. He also is an award-winning, Undergraduate Student Research Days participant, having learned experientially at PUC’s Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation.

November 14, 2011Build a tower out of spaghetti and gumdrops? Then travel inside a 1000-degree furnace unscathed? These are just some of the highlights of the Engineering Open House on Saturday, November 12, 2011, hosted by the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) and the Departments of Engineering. One hundred and twenty high school seniors and family members attended this open house, which immediately followed the View Purdue Calumet event. It was a day full of information, hands-on activities, and opportunities to meet university officials, faculty members, and current students.
