Over 160 students from Block Middle School, part of the Educational Talent Search program, visited CIVS on Friday and enjoyed a  3D demonstration presented by CIVS’ Matt Cross, an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student. CIVS’ demonstration sought to spark the interest of these students by giving them a glimpse of the world of virtual reality in hopes of inspiring them to pursue higher education.

Educational Talent Search identifies and assists individuals from eligible backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their post-secondary education. They work collaboratively within targeted schools and with parents, teachers, counselors, and community outreach organizations.

Information about Educational Talent Search was taken from their website: http://webs.purduecal.edu/talent/
