On March 4 & 5, delegates from the Open University for Adults (UAPA) located in Santiago, Dominican Republic and delegates from the Purdue Center for Global Urban Sustainability  (CGUS) visited our campus for a collaboration with the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) on virtual training and 3+1 programs.

The Open University for Adults (Universidad Abierta Para Adultos), (UAPA) was founded in 1991 and is located in Santiago, Dominion Republic. This university supports distance learning, primarily via internet and/or CD.

Established in April 2010, Purdue University’s Center for Global Urban Sustainability (CGUS) aims to develop, through community-based studies, working models for sustaining the health and well being of underserved populations, including those whose demographic and economic characteristics may impede their access to health care services.

The goal of the meeting was to create a framework for future collaborations, determine opportunities for MOOC’s with Integrated Virtual Learning in education for the Latin American markets, consider development of a 3+1 initiative with Latin America and the development of a Memorandum of Agreement between PUC/CIVS,CGUS and UAPA.
