The CenterDr. Chenn Zhou presenting to NWI Homeland Security Group for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) at Purdue University Calumet hosted ISWG’s monthly meeting on February 7, 2014.  The agenda included presentations by Dr. Chenn Zhou, CIVS Director and Barbara Nicolai, Professor, both of Purdue University Calumet.

The CIVS presentation showcased the Center’s abilities to support and enhance ISWG’s mission, which is to provide essential emergency medical care and patient evacuation during times of natural or man-made disaster, or in time of a national security emergency.  Attending the meeting were over 25 emergency response leaders from across the state. Chief Steven Scheckel, of the Munster Police Department and Ray Chambers, Director of Emergency Management, Newton County, provided working group updates.

During discussion, CIVS and ISWG identified several projects for collaboration that will benefit Northwest Indiana during emergencies.  Future information about the collaboration will be available in the near future.
