Synopsis:  Virtual Product Development is a critical ingredient in delivering high value products to Caterpillar customers.  This keynote talk will provide a snapshot of the current role simulation plays at Caterpillar, and provide a glimpse into the future. Ingredients of this simulation future will include utilization strategies for High Performance Computing, incorporation of variability and uncertainty, and a move towards automated processes.

Randy Huber is currently the Division Manager of the Advanced Virtual Product Development team located at Caterpillar’s Technical Center. He received his BSME from Ohio State University in 1978 and joined the Caterpillar Engineering Training Program after graduation. In his 33 years at Caterpillar, Randy has gained extensive product development knowledge and experience with assignments in Engine & Machine simulation, test, design, new product introduction and applied research.  His current team is responsible for developing and deploying advance simulation tools and processes throughout the Caterpillar enterprise.
