Postdoctoral position is available for research in the area of Augmented Reality (AR) at The Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS), Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, Indiana.
Purdue University Calumet, a campus of the Purdue system, enrolls over 10,000 students in more than 80 programs in 21 academic departments. The campus is situated in Northwest Indiana, 25 miles from Downtown Chicago. CIVS is a multidisciplinary center that combines advanced simulation techniques with 3-D visualization, virtual reality, and related technologies. CIVS has received a number of grants from federal agencies and private organizations. Its research focuses on applying research to foster innovation for academic, industry, and societal issues as well as offering new possibilities for education and training. Qualifications
An earned Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field is required. Applicants should have background in software development and visualization. Experience with augmented reality, programming mobile devices, and graphics applications is desired. Applicants must demonstrate strong writing and communication skills, the ability to function in a team environment with other researchers, and past experience at publishing in technical journals.
Job Details
Projects will focus on research and development of next-generation augmented reality applications to be used for education and training as well as for application to various industrial project. Development may include various hardware including mobile phones, head mounted displays, haptic devices, and other related technology. Dissemination of research and project results is expected through publication in academic journals and conference presentations.

Applicants should have extensive experience in CFD simulations with background in multiphase reacting flows. Applicants must demonstrate strong writing and communication skills, the ability to function in a team environment with other researchers, and past experience at publishing in technical journals.

Qualifications
An earned Ph.D. degree in any relevant Engineering or Science field is required. Applicants should have backgrounds in advanced geospatial modeling. Candidates should be familiar with popular geospatial software such as ARCGIS, MAP WINDOW and should be capable of writing python scripts with ARC ENGINE. Applicants must demonstrate strong writing and communication skills, the ability to function in a team environment with other researchers, and past experience at publishing in technical journals.
Job Details
Projects will focus on regional economic development and city planning. Research and project development is needed for geospatial data integration with advanced simulation and visualization including applications with mobile devices, augmented reality, 3-D modeling, and virtual reality. Dissemination of research and project results will be expected through publication in academic journals and conference presentations. Enabling further development for current and future projects is encouraged through seeking and applying for grants and other external funding.
