We will be celebrating National Student Employment Week  April 8 – 12, 2013. Student workers make tremendous contributions to the university. To express our appreciation to these students, we have several activities planned.Monday, April 8 and Tuesday April 9, on the International Concourse of

the Student Union and Library, we will have free cookies and games of skill. On Wednesday, April 10, join us in Calumet Falls from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. for a Pizza Party and Celebration Cake while listening to the fabulous music of DJ Paul Segal, 219 Productions! On Thursday, April 11, the Student Employee of the Year and Student Employee Supervisor of the Year winners will be announced at the Reception, open to the entire campus, in YJean Chambers, Student Union and Library, 3^rd floor,  from 12:30 P. M. – 1:30 P.M. at which light refreshments will be served

Tuesday, March 26 from 12:30pm-1:30pm, in Lawshe 131, Debbie Blades, from Career Services will be presenting on the Hoosier Hot 50 Jobs including job search strategies and trends for today's market. Come to the presentation and learn more about this informative topic!  

On February 6 from 3pm-6pm and February 7 from 11am-2pm, Career Services is hosting open resume review sessions in the SUL Concourse. Need your resume reviewed before the career fair? Bring a hard copy of your resume and visit our table! Your resume will be reviewed and no appointment is needed! It is that time of year for all Purdue Calumet students to update their résumés in CareerTrax!  This will ensure that as employers contact Career Services and ask for résumé referrals and booklets, your most current and up-to-date document can be shared.  With the holiday season right around the corner, our Career and Internship Fair is quickly approaching on February 15.  We don’t want students and recent graduates to miss out on this opportunity to get their résumés in front of hiring managers.  Here are some quick tips to ensure you are considered for future employment opportunities:

• Schedule a résumé review with Career Services as soon as possible or stop by one of our walk-in sessions ( Tuesdays 10am and 2 pm, Wednesdays 12pm , and Thursdays 9am and 4pm)
• Upload your current and updated résumé to CareerTrax by February 1, 2013
• Allow “employer viewing” in CareerTrax so we can include your résumé in our referral process

Career Services along with the Hospitality and Tourism Management department will be hosting an Etiquette Lesson and , Lunch on November 7, 2012 from 10:30am-1:30pm.

Enjoy lunch, network with employers and learn proper manners along the way! A $10 deposit is due at time of registration but will be returned upon participation.

The event is broken down into two parts: Etiquette lesson from 10:30-11:45am and the Lunch with employers from 12:00-1:30pm. You MUST attend BOTH the lesson and the lunch to get your deposit back and participate in the event. Space is limited so register by 10/31!
