Walk In Review Sessions New Hours!!!

New Hours           

The Career Center’s Drop In Career Advising Hours for the Fall 2014 semester:
                                                        Tuesdays @ 10:00am or 2:00pm
                                                         Wednesdays @ 12:00 pm
                                                        Thursdays @ 9:00 am or 3:00 pm

*Special Evening Hours: First Wednesday of Every Month 4:00pm – 6:00pm will start in September.  This session is not offered during Summer or semester breaks.

Sessions are first come, first served! Students must create and bring a resume/cover letter prior to review and must arrive promptly at the specified times above for assistance with the following services:

  • Document Review (Resume/Cover Letter)
  • Using CareerTrax/Online Career Services
  • Job/Internship Search Strategies
  • Student Employment Information

Other Career Center services offered by appointment only are Mock Interviews, Interview Preparations, Graduate School Preparation, Career Planning, LinkedIN, Professional Portfolio Building and Career Events

The Office of Career Services is now OPEN!!  All Walk-In Services including Resume Review Sessions will resume. Resume Review Sessions for the summer will take place during the following times:

Tuesday:  10:00am OR 2:00pm
Wednesday: 12:00pm
Thursday: 9:00am OR 3:00pm


 All review sessions are first come, first served.  Please bring a copy of your document with you!

The application period is now open for the Interns for Indiana Program!

This year we are collaborating with four wonderful companies offering 8 internship opportunities! Internships will take place during the summer. Interns will complete 400 hours and are provided a stipend of $4,500 paid in three increments of $1,500.

 To qualify:

  1. Be a  full-time junior or senior at the time of the internship (if you are graduating May 2014, sorry you do not qualify)
  2. Completing your first bachelor’s degree
  3. Have a minimum 2.8 GPA
  4. You must complete the application by 4:30pm, Friday, April 11, 2014   Click here for Application

 Sorry, at this time the Interns for Indiana program does not accept graduate students.

Applications must be returned to Amber Garrett in the Office of Career Services (SUL 349) no later than 4:30pm April 11th. The application can be dropped off in the office, faxed in to 219-989-2770 or emailed to

Student Employee of the Year

We will be celebrating National Student Employment Week  April 13th-19th, 2014. Student workers make tremendous contributions to the university. To express our appreciation to these students, on Wednesday, April 16th, join us in Calumet Falls from 11 A.M. – 2 P.M. for a Pizza Party and Celebration Cake while listening to the fabulous music of DJ Paul Segal, 219 Productions!

On Thursday, April 17th, the Student Employee of the Year and Student Employee Supervisor of the Year winners will be announced at the Reception, open to the entire campus, in YJean Chambers, Student Union and Library, 3rd floor,  from 12:30 P. M. – 1:30 P.M. at which light refreshments will be served.

Etiquette Lesson & Lunch

Career Services along with the Hospitality and Tourism Management department will be hosting an Etiquette Lesson and Lunch on April 2, 2014 from 10:15am-1:30pmEnjoy lunch, network with employers and learn proper manners along the way! A $10 deposit is due at time of registration but will be returned upon complete participation.

The event is broken down into two parts: Etiquette lesson from 10:15-11:45am and the Lunch with employers from 12:00-1:30pm. You MUST attend BOTH the lesson and the lunch to get your deposit back and participate in the event. Space is limited so register by 03/21!
