HAMMOND, Ind. – Purdue University Calumet’s men’s and women’s basketball coaches will be swapping their dress shoes for sneakers during the Peregrines’ CCAC doubleheader with Cardinal Stritch University on Saturday, February 4, in support of Coaches vs. Cancer. PUC will also donate a portion of the tickets sales to the American Cancer Society for cancer research through its third-annual halftime free throw contest.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers coaches, their teams and communities to join the fight against cancer. Since its inception in 1993, high school and college coaches across the country have raised nearly $55 million to help the Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, advocate for public health policies that benefit the community and provide free local programs that improve quality of life for patients and their families.
The Purdue Calumet women will begin the action with a 1 p.m. tip-off, as the top two teams in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference collide with the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament on the line. The men’s contest will begin immediately following the conclusion of the women’s game with an estimated 3 p.m. start.
