Our Hospitality and Tourism Management program at Purdue University Calumet has been educating students since 1981 and has decided to recognize this very professional end of the industry with its own Certificate in School Nutrition and Food Services. The program has chosen to place the PUC academic emphasis on strong supervisory and managerial perspectives, as it prepares professionals for advancement or placement in this segment of the hospitality industry. Coursework has been designed with the guidance of experienced and degreed practitioners in the field and should meet the applicant’s needs for basic personal development, education and recognition in their school district. At 25 credits (9 courses) it is reasonable in scope, deliverable online and doable (one to two years) for most working in the industry and those who may desire to change careers and pursue work in On-Site Food Services.
