Jimmy Gurchek is the Executive Administrator for Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine Basic Science Departments.
The Feinberg School of Medicine is a $1.1 billion enterprise located in Chicago, Illinois. The Basic Science Departments within Feinberg include Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology-Immunology, Molecular Pharmacology and Biological Chemistry, and Physiology.
Jimmy oversees the basic sciences annual operating budget of $60M. He is responsible for all administrative operations including the preparation of research proposals to external sponsors, grants and contracts, finance and accounting, human resources, faculty affairs, graduate student administration, facilities and information technology.
Before arriving at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 2002, Jimmy enjoyed a 12-year career at Purdue Calumet, where he utilized his engineering background to design and build new television and radio studios for the Communications department before transferring to an administrative position. While at Purdue Calumet, he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and a Masters of Business Administration degree.
