Christian Klaas photoChristian Klaas currently works as a Tax Manager at Friedman & Huey Associates, LP in Homewood, IL
In his nine years with the company, he was a participant in the internship program, hired as a staff accountant, and promoted to manager.  Christian is responsible for managing engagements for many of the firm’s high net worth clients.
By staying on the forefront of developing tax laws and having a clear understanding of the interrelationships between the different areas of taxation, he has become a valuable resource to his peers and plays an integral role in the development of other staff accountants within his company.
On a day to day basis, his duties include managing the workflow of annual compliance activities, identifying valuable income tax planning opportunities, and creating wealth for future generations through estate planning.  He also is involved with financial planning, portfolio performance reviews, and other wealth management activities.
Christian graduated from Purdue Calumet in 2006 with a B. S. degree, with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. His Masters of Science in Taxation degree was earned at DePaul University in Illinois in 2011.

Christian’s most valued Purdue Calumet experience: “The competition and camaraderie that was developed with many of my classmates is directly related to my career success.  We all worked hard, but by working together, we were able to come up with ideas and angles that any one of us could not have come up with on our own.  These efforts prepared me for the dynamic encounters I would later experience in the business world.”

Christian’s advice to current Purdue Calumet students: “Stay passionate about learning and current within your area of expertise.  Learn all that you can from your peers and those who are already established experts in your field.  Consistently ask ‘why?’ to gain an understanding of the bigger picture.  Above all, work hard.  Keep your nose to the grindstone and your eyes open for opportunity. Success will soon follow.”
