This class focuses on author Rebecca Skloot’s book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks which was selected as the inaugural book choice for Purdue Calumet’s 2012-2013 One Book – One University reading program. this remarkable book poignantly shares the story of Lacks and her family as poor tobacco farmers in the south against the backdrop of groundbreaking gains in human biomedical research.
