This session is primarily a review of the first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but will include discussion of the following two books in the trilogy as they relate to the character development of Lisbeth Salander and to Larsson’s themes of Nazism and feminism in Sweden during WWII and today. The session will also include a discussion comparing the Swedish suspense writer with American suspense writers such as Tom Clancy. Clips from the film that has been made of the book will be shown. Participants should have read at least the first book.
