Founders Day – February 25, 2016

Join Purdue University Calumet in celebrating 70 years of rich history at our annual Founders Day celebration on Thursday, February 25, 2016!

February 18-24:

  • Spirit Door Decorating Contest

February 25:

  • Kick Off Ceremony & Activities
    9:30 a.m. — Opening ceremony held at Purdue University Calumet’s early site, 5935 Hohman Ave., Hammond, current location of Montessori Children’s Schoolhouse. The children will present Pride the Peregrine with hand-made cards to celebrate our 70th. (This ceremony is not open to the public. Should you wish to attend, please contact Ashley Gerodimos at

    11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    Celebrate in the SUL Concourse and Alumni Hall with Food, Giveaways, Photo Booth, Trivia, Games and More! (Now is your chance to be a part of this historic 70th celebration . . . we are looking for departments and organizations interested in participating in the SUL Concourse during our Founders Day celebration.   • Laser Tag (by Zig-E’s Funland)
    12:30 p.m. – 3:30 Alumni Hall – Games run in 15-minute cycles.
  • Photo Op with Pride the Peregrine
    11 a.m. – 2 p.m. — Look out for Pride the Peregrine strolling the Campus and have your camera ready! Post your pic with #PurdueCal70 and you could be featured on our website or social media.
  • University Archives Open to Public
    8 a.m. – 5 p.m. — Explore our campus’ rich history and artifacts in the University Archives & Special Collections Vault! — Student Union & Library, Room 236
  • Fitness Center Open & Free to All for the Day
    Purdue Calumet Fitness and Recreation Center will be open all day (Feb. 25) for free to students, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Fireworks Show
    6:15 p.m. — Gather outside of the South entrance of SUL to enjoy a great view of the fireworks show and warm up with a cup of free hot chocolate. (Bring chairs and blankets if desired.)
  • Bubble Soccer & Popcorn
    6:45 p.m. — Fitness & Recreation Center (following fireworks show)

Spirit Door Decorating Contest:

Back by popular demand, show your Founders Day school spirit by decorating a door on campus (this year’s theme is “70th Anniversary”) and submit a photo by 5 p.m., Thursday, February 18. Winner(s) will receive a cake from the Purdue Calumet 2015-16 intramural baking contest winner!

Watch for an email to vote for your favorite door! 

Voting link will only be active between noon on Monday, February 22 and 9 a.m., Thursday, February 25. You are only able to vote once for 1 door. Winner will receive a cake from the Purdue Calumet 2015-16 intramural baking contest winner and the proud title of “Most School Spirit!”
